job description

HR Partners is excited to team up with this ASX company to find a skilled and collaborative People and Capability Advisor. Reporting to the People and Capability Manager, you'll deliver operational support to the business, offering advice and services to assist with the daily management of teams.

You will work closely with the People and Capability Community to ensure that support is aligned with best practices in people management throughout the contract.

Key Accountabilities

  • Collaborate with business leaders to identify and implement People and Capability (P&C) initiatives that align with the contract's operational goals.
  • Offer guidance and support on P&C policies, procedures, employment laws, recruitment strategies, and risk management. Constructively challenge decisions that may not be in the organisation's best interest and escalate issues to P&C Management when necessary.
  • Provide the management team with the information needed to enable effective and consistent leadership, encouraging leaders to take increasing responsibility for people management.
  • Work with the contract to deliver P&C advice that promotes innovative work practices and agree on appropriate local interventions to maximize opportunities. Escalate issues and challenges to the P&C Manager as needed.
  • Assist local management in addressing and resolving employee relations issues, ensuring thorough and appropriate investigations.
  • Stay informed about legal requirements related to daily employee management and collaborate with Employee Relations/Industrial Relations Management as needed.
  • Implement employee engagement and retention initiatives tailored to the contract’s needs.
  • Advise on performance management issues, working closely with local management, ER/IR Manager, and P&C Manager to resolve them.
  • Actively contribute to the development and support of the broader P&C function’s strategic objectives.
  • Ensure consistency in using Success Factors.

Partnerships

  • Work in partnership with HR Service Centre and the wider P&C team on people issues and initiatives
  • Collaborate with local management in addressing and resolving employee relations issues, ensuring thorough and appropriate investigations.
  • Develop and maintain constructive Union working relationships to deliver business outcomes.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in a generalist P&C Advisor role (blue collar preferred)
  • Ability to effectively and creatively challenge people, situations and current thinking with the objective of delivering effective P&C practices that support business deliverable
  • Demonstrated ability to understand client needs and offer pragmatic solutions.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced contract delivery environment, leveraging the expertise of the broader P&C Network

Qualifications, knowledge & experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, HR or related field and/or combination of relevant experience and education
  • Sound knowledge and application of employment law
  • Excellent judgement, initiative, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure whilst holding composure
  • Exceptional relationship building skills with a solid foundation in HR with an emphasis on ER/IR
  • Experience in a services-based environment (highly desirable)

  • Drivers license
