About the role:

The Human Resources Officer is an integral role in the community, acting as the bridge between the Leadership Team and the teaching and non-teaching staff. The role holder’s primary purpose is to ensure that the most valuable asset – its people – are managed effectively and efficiently. From recruitment and onboarding to employee relations and compliance, the HR Officer’s responsibilities are diverse and integral to fulfill the mission of the organisation.

  • Co-ordinate the advertising process for new personnel, including the design and production of the advertisement, role description and selection criteria.
  • Assist with the short-listing process of applicants, including interview questions, coordination of interviews, and providing responses to unsuccessful applicants.
  • In conjunction with the CLT co-ordinate employment offers and associated documentation.
  • Manage the induction process for new staff, including the coordination of the New Staff Induction Day, the preparation of Induction Packs and the production and annual review.
  • Co-ordinate the procedures and documentation for staff exiting the organisation.
  • Provide advice and develop excellent processes to guide the CLT in the implementation of all matters pertaining to Agreements and Awards.
  • Provide accurate advice and assistance to staff in relation to staff employment, salary and wage rates, leave entitlements and conditions.
  • Maintain a register of approved leave requests, record sick leave from daily supervisions and follow up leave forms for payroll processing.
  • Maintain registers of FTE/PTE records for all employers including salary level, positions of added responsibility and time release for reporting and budget purposes.
  • Assist the CLT with the development of human resource/staff related policies and procedures.
  • Assist the CLT with the performance review process for teaching staff in accordance with the strategic plan. This incorporates the coordination of qualifying reviews.
  • Coordinate the annual review process for non-teaching staff (Recognition and Development Program), including the preparation of documentation, scheduling of meetings and training and updating any changes made to role descriptions.
  • Assist the Finance Manager with reports and information on; New Staff, Exiting Staff Staff to be incremented and any other changes to load, rate of pay, hours or other employee set up.

About the individual:

  • Must hold and maintain a current Queensland Working with Children Clearance (Blue Card) or willing to obtain this prior to starting employment.
  • Tertiary qualifications in HR, highly regarded for this position.
  • Ideally minimum of 3 years in a similar role.
  • Experience working with HR management system TASS, highly desirable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficient in Adobe suite of programs.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Teams for collaboration and communication.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint for file storage and document management.
  • Experience in a HR support role with the ability to lead processes and work independently with minimal supervision on all aspects of the role and employee lifecycle.
