job description

An opportunity for a SME in graduate programs to join Logan City Council on a 6month temporary contract as a Career Development Officer. This role is perfect for someone who is experienced in recruitment, projects and recruiting graduate candidates. This is a 6month temporary contract with a potential of extension. Paying $48.03 per hour, Monday-Friday, with 2 days wfh.

About the role:
  • Establish relationships and faciilate the connection of students or graduates with relevant pathway opportunities within Council.
  • Monitor and review the delivery of the graduate initiatives including pilot programs to ensure ongoing alignment with Council's Vision and key priorities.
  • Facilitate the connection of candidates with Council for any related emerging programs including but not limited to: work experience university students, cadetships or skills gap placements.
  • Develop training and support materials and resources as required to prepare candidates for programs.
  • Maintain and up-to-date knowledge of relevant placement requirements of Universities.
  • Engage, build and manage relationships with external providers such as Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) and Universities to ensure the smooth delivery of a positive experience for the candidate and the branch.

  • Establish and maintain strong and effective partnerships with key internal stakeholders.
  • Encourage and help to faciliate the set up of industry-specific forums to support specific graduate cohorts.
  • Maintain an up-to-date matrix of University contact and their requirements.
  • Administer and manage the set up of positions in relevant HR systems for all initiatives for the Talent and Employment Pathways function.

  • Continue to review, build and maintain the graduate pathways processes and tools in collaboration with the Organisational Development and Human Resource Business Partner teams.
  • Develop and promote mechanisms to encourage customer (candiate and branch) feedback for continuous improvement for Talent and Pre-Employment Pathways service.
  • Undertake a range of reporting duties such as report writing, drafting report presentations or collating statistics on the program.
  • Contribute to recording of budget information in the budget register.

About the individual:
  • Tertiary qualifications desired and/or significant experience relating to the delivery of graduate pathway or related programs (e.g. traineeships, apprenticeships, cadetships).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Higher Education system, including placement practices and requirements.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to tailor communication to communicate with stakeholder at all levels.
  • Experience working in an internal recruitment postion working with graduate programs.
