The gathering was a great success, bringing together a vibrant community of aspiring HR professionals eager to advance their careers. Our aim was to provide valuable insights and actionable strategies to help attendees accelerate their professional growth within the sector.

key highlights

The event was packed with thought-provoking insights from our key speaker Georgie O-Connor Stubbs, who over the span of four years, worked her way from HR Admin to Senior Business Partner - now working for one of the worlds largest dairy processing companies.
Georgie highlighted key aspects of her journey to date, and her personal recipe for success consisted of:

1. building essential skills

A major theme of the event was skill development. Georgie emphasised the need for both soft and hard skills in HR. Key skills highlighted included:

  • Communication and professionalism: Articulation and upholding of our core values are key within this sector
  • Analytical Skills: Important for making data-driven decisions and understanding workforce analytics.
  • Professionalism
  • Technological Proficiency: Familiarity with HR software and tools is increasingly vital.
  • Leadership and Influence: Necessary for guiding teams and driving organisational change.

2. understanding the HR landscape

Georgie shared the names of key Institutions, Senior Leaders and key materials which aided her in her understanding of the HR sector, how she keeps up to date with current trends as well as the future outlook of the HR industry. We discussed the increasing importance of HR in strategic business planning and how the role of HR professionals is evolving. Attendees learned about emerging areas such as AI in HR, and how this can work to our advantage.

3. career pathways and opportunities

Georgie touched on words which ring true to her - setbacks should not ever be perceived as set backs. They are a step in the right direction. She noted to never be afraid to change your pathway
